Development Officer – Planning Policy Team (Grade 3 £29,952 - £36,655)- Full-Time(37hrs) Permanent Position 

 

An exciting development opportunity has arisen to appoint a Development Officer within our Planning Policy team.

 

Cornwall Council is a dynamic and successful local planning authority with a strong focus on team work to help the Council achieve its mission of working with communities for a carbon neutral Cornwall, where everyone can start well, live well and age well.  Cornwall has a diverse range of both urban, rural and coastal locations, which itself provides a number of exciting and diverse planning challenges. The Council has recently adopted its ground-breaking Climate Emergency Development Plan Document, designed to help Cornwall adapt to the challenges of Climate Change. A new planning system means the opportunity to positively shape a sustainable and prosperous Cornwall.
 

We are looking for an enthusiastic Development Officer to join our friendly and supportive Planning Policy team.  You will be joining an experienced team that is embarking on the next Cornwall Local Plan with the additional benefit of a varied workload and a mix of office and home working.
 

The role will include working with colleagues to:

 

·       Help prepare the evidence base, vision and policies for the next Cornwall Local Plan.

·       Help to develop the Cornwall Local Nature Recovery Strategy.

·       Ensure the continued roll out of Biodiversity Net Gain.

 

You will have excellent interpersonal and communication skills to work collaboratively both within the organisation and with stakeholders including Local Councils and Consultees.  Experience in planning or a planning related qualification will be helpful to this role, but we are most interested in a positive attitude, inquisitive nature, interest in the subject and drive to deliver.
