Cornwall Fire and Rescue Service is looking to recruit an enthusiastic, experienced manager to support the Engineering Workshops and stores as a deputy to the Technician Performance and Fleet Compliance Manager.

The post holder is responsible for safe, cost effective, responsive, efficient and cohesive running of the Vehicle and Plant workshop.

Supporting the Technician Performance and Fleet Compliance Manager in the day to day supervision, control of workloads and allocation of jobs and also maintaining quality within the team of vehicle & plant technicians. Providing maintenance expertise over a wide range, including, mechanical, auto electrical, pneumatic & hydraulic disciplines.  

To manage and monitor the maintenance and servicing of key equipment in line with manufacturers recommendations.

Support the Premise Coordinator with the recall and testing arrangements of the breathing apparatus cylinders and ensure the ancillary equipment not covered under the total care package is maintained.

To provide minor bodywork repairs and fabrications for service vehicles and deliver on the EWS KPI’s.

Ensure regular one to one meetings and accurate lines of communication with the Technician Performance and Fleet Compliance Manager. Provide one to one meetings and set goals and performance targets with direct line management responsibilities.

Key Objectives

·       Efficient and effective running of Engineering Workshop within the baseline budget.

·       Manage the Engineering Workshop personnel to deliver the requirements for the service

·       Providing technical knowledge for service tendering documents and contact details

·       Maintain accurate records of work and scheduling items for planned maintenance.
